Challenge Two

Once I had heard that our challenge was to design an outfit around footwear, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

With the boots chosen, I wanted an outfit that would look as if the boots continued up the body and be one that the likes of Cher would wear. I had wanted to do this outfit before the Barbie Convention and have a Cher doll in it, but just could not get fully inspired to even start it! But with this challenge, I knew I had to go ahead with it! And here it is. One of Cher’s newest OOAK outfit for her latest tour.

Challenge Three

When I heard the Details of Challenge 3, I had so many ideas running through my head it was not even funny. I finally decided on creating something that a hip young woman would wear in observance of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I decided to embellish x’s on the entire ensemble in hopes to cross out this disease.

Her Skirt is based off a man’s Kilt (where only the inside sewn pleats are lined). The bottom and sides are made to look like natural fringe. There are x’scovering where the front closures (snaps) are. The back, which is  a unique piece, has black x’s from top to bottom.

She wears a cropped top also is embellished with x’s  on the seams and where the closures are in the back. This piece also has the natural fringe on the bottom.

Her purse was based off of what her skirt looked like, with x’s closing the front of it with an orange strap to co-ordinate with the top.

She sports a embroidered pink choker interlaced with black ribbon.

To complete her look is a is crocheted scarf, which I actually had to hand sewn together, as it was just one long chain.

Challenge Four

When I first read the challenge, I had an idea of what I wanted to make; at least for the shorts. But, I quickly found out that I had no idea of how to make them--I've only seen them a couple of times in history books. So, I adapted what I had intended to make and went fromn there.

I already had the colours picked out in my mind; all I had to do was look at the Red Maple in my front yard. I wanted warm earthy tones--the colour of my tree when it's changing.

I decided to use Madly Sadly Plaid, an Ellowyne Wilde doll and I envisioned her as a leaf nymph, with no shoes, but wearing over the knee socks to protect her feet and legs when she's cllimbing trees and running through the forest. She even has leaves on her outfit, hose, purse, and even a leaf in her hair.

Challenge Five

The headlines scream: POPPY PARKER WEARS A GODAI KATSUNAGH ORGINAL

see story inside

Poppy has just recently finished filming a movie located in what was once known as Edo (also the name of the Movie) and is wearing one of the dresses from her wardrobe. She is quoted as saying, “Even though I have to walk like a Geisha, I am in love with this dress. Though, how in the world I am to sit in a chair, I’ve no idea! Why did I not think to have the back redone so it was removable?” [This outfit is completely removable]

I am not sure if the translation is 100% accurate, but I wanted it to seem as if her pictures were taken at the Premier of her movie in Tokyo and that that was the headline and the writeup on the inside.

And yes, I will say in hindsight I should’ve made that back bit removable!

Challenge Seven

Joan was recently caught at a Cocktail Party wearing a lovely above the knee sheath in lilac with a silver print. She added a cute Rosette Bow on the waist at the closure in back, leaving the top closure plain. I guess she figured less was more. The only jewelry she sported are silver ball dangle earrings, though, one really wonders about what is around her hair as it is very shiny and seems to have lots of them. In fact, her cute purse has a small sample of it for the front closure.

Model: OOAK MZ on a 3rd Generation FR Body As Joan Harris. I did a simple sheath, with the hemline above the knees. I chose plain black pumps with no hose to show off her long legs. The purse used was a modification of a Barbie purse with a strap added and front closure attached. The back lower snap is hidden by a simply Rose Bow to add simple elegance to her dress. Her hair is held up by simple trim wrapped around then pinned in place.
