Challenge One

Tsunami.

Last week my attention has been chained to the situation in Japan. It is very sad. It is a great tragedy for the Japanese people, and my heart goes out to them …

Therefore, as a tribute, I have decided to make something in the Japanese spirit. At first I sewed a kimono from nylon ribbons, but it was very simple. And the next step became the outfit which I present now to your judgement. I have tried to transfer an essence of the water elements – Tsunami.

This outfit is fully hand made. I used satin ribbons: 1/12 satin ribbons were used for the skirt (18 yards light blue and 9.5 yards sky blue) and for the top (4.5 yards light blue), and also some satin ribbons for accessories.

Challenge Three

This task has certainly become a challenge. I have tried many variants, but felt uncomfortable with them. And then I asked myself, what is fetish for me? My fetish in fashion is “La Belle Epoque”, with its luxurious and feminine forms.

That's an idea!  - I have exclaimed,  - I’ll make an outfit, inspired by fashion of the end of the 19th century, but with a modern touch to it and a hint of luscious and sensuality.

My design includes:

Low-neck coat with draped puffed sleeves and skirt with tails, made of fine denim with a blue metallic coating from Cavalli fabrics collection.

Sheath-dress of deep blue natural silk dupioni with push-up bodice, accentuating the bosom.

Short corset of silk dupioni as well, decorated with French chantilly-lace and embroidery with beads of different color and size. The corset emphasizes the waist perfectly and may be used both as a beautiful accessory complementing the dress and a luscious lingerie item.

Challenge Four

My outfit consists of corset and skirt. For creation of a corset I used a mauve satin, draped in the pale grey veil and embroidered with beads and sequins. Skirt of double-sided fabric, for a lining I use a navy blue vail.

Challenge Five

My work says that all is not as simple as it seems. Even if the Universe had only two colours - the black and the white, if you combine them, they give volume and depth that generate the multidimensionality...

Stretch fabrics have unquestionable advantages, they fit close to the body, good draping and don't get crumpled. I tried to use this advantages in my design. The skirt made of stretch fabric has an intricate form, it fits good at hipline and the draping widens the form to the bottom, graphically checked pattern gives depth and charm to the drapes. Skintight corsage of the black stretch jersey decorated with stretch denim collar is modest, but underlines the beauty of the skirt.
