Challenge One - Contestant 2

After spending 8 years making historic themed gowns for women, most of which did in fact have a gothic flavor, I began this challenge feeling tapped out as far as any new inspiration. I love post apocalyptic literature and movies, so I decided to go down that path, a genre called “Cyber Goth”. My design envisions of world gone gray and dangerous, bereft of goodness and grace. My model depicts a woman who wanders the dusty rubble in search of beauty- any beauty. She is captivated by the lingering elegance of dead blackened flowers…. I am always focused on texture, which led to my choice in fabric. The dress and hair fall is primarily made of shredded and burned nylon in shades of gray and grayish plum, with lining and accents in pale pink. The jacket is leather, so to decrease bulk, I opted not to line it. I accented the black lace up boots and the jacket with sharp studded rings. The stockings are done in stretch burn out black velvet.
